TL;DR: In June 2026, Salesforce announced that 24 certifications (15 Accredited Professional credentials and 9 Salesforce Certifications) retire on February 1, 2027, and that 16 others are renamed, mostly to add “Agentforce” to the title. The renames took effect on July 24, 2026 and need no action from holders. The last day to register for a retiring exam was July 24 and the last day to sit one was August 31, 2026, so both windows have closed. Salesforce says holders of retiring certifications stay valid through February 1, 2027, with no maintenance requirement until then, and that the credentials remain visible on Trailblazer profiles. What Salesforce has not published, in the posts we read, is what happens to maintenance after that date. Third-party writers disagree on it, so this guide shows both readings and labels each one.
With 110 days left until the retirement date, the practical question is no longer “should I rush the exam?” It is “which lane am I in, and what should I earn next?” The three-lane table below answers that.

Salesforce’s own posts are the source for the dates and holder rules. The full lists of retiring and renamed certifications come from third-party coverage (Salesforce Trail and Salesforce Ben), because Salesforce’s posts point to FAQs for the lists rather than printing them. Treat those lists as “reported” and confirm your own credential on your Trailblazer profile.
The Three-Lane Table: Find Your Situation
Most articles list all 40 credentials and leave you to scan them. This table starts from your position instead.
| Lane | Who is in it | What to do | Deadline |
| Renamed | You hold one of the 16 renamed certifications | Nothing. Your name on the profile changed on July 24. Request a new certificate only if you want one with the new name | None |
| Retiring and already passed | You hold one of the 24 retiring certifications | Keep it on your profile and resume. Plan what to earn next | Valid through February 1, 2027. Later status not published |
| Retiring and not passed | You were studying for one of the 24 | The window has closed. Choose a current certification instead | Registration closed July 24. Exam window closed August 31 |
| Untouched | Your certification is on neither list | Nothing changes. Salesforce Trail reports 63 certifications remain | None |
What the retirement date does not change
Salesforce’s posts say retiring certifications stay valid through February 1, 2027 and remain on Trailblazer profiles as professional history. One independent write-up (Salesforce Ben, June 12, 2026) reads the retirement as Salesforce no longer maintaining or updating the exam, not as invalidating the credential, and notes that employers can still look it up in the verification system. That is the author’s interpretation, not a quote from Salesforce.
The conflict we found
One third-party article we read said retired certifications cannot be renewed in future maintenance cycles. Salesforce’s own posts say only that there is no maintenance requirement before the retirement date, and say nothing about the period after it. We could not find a Salesforce statement settling the question. If maintenance status matters to your job or your employer’s partner tier, ask Salesforce or check the retirements FAQ the posts link to.

Where CertEmpire has material
For two of these, practice material exists on the site: the B2C Commerce Architect exam page and the Education Cloud Consultant practice questions. Because the exam window for retiring certifications closed on August 31, 2026, these pages are useful for people who already hold the credential or study the product area, not for new attempts at the retiring exam.
The 16 Renamed Certifications
Effective July 24, 2026, as reported by Salesforce Trail. The content is unchanged, according to Salesforce Ben.

Why the names changed
Salesforce’s post says the renames reflect current products and branding, including Agentforce. Eleven of the 16 new names contain “Agentforce”. The pattern is consistent: Salesforce is moving its cloud-specific credentials to product names used today, without changing what the exams cover.
What renaming means for your resume
A renamed credential is the same credential. If your resume or profile still shows the old name, the safest practice is to list the new name and keep the old one in brackets, so a recruiter searching for either finds you. The help article Salesforce links in its post explains how to request a new certificate and logo with the updated name.
For older practice material, our Communications Cloud practice questions and Field Service Consultant practice questions cover credentials that now carry new names. The topic coverage is the same. Only the title differs.
The Countdown to February 1, 2027
| Date | Days left | Milestone |
| June 9 to 10, 2026 | n/a | Announcement |
| July 24, 2026 | n/a | Renames live. Registration for retiring exams closed |
| August 31, 2026 | n/a | Last day to sit retiring exams |
| October 14, 2026 (today) | 110 | You are here |
| December 31, 2026 | 32 | A natural checkpoint to review your profile and resume |
| February 1, 2027 | 0 | Retirement date |
The dates in the posts are expressed at 12:00 a.m. UTC. For candidates in the Americas, that means each cutoff fell on the evening before the printed date, which matters only in hindsight now.
Ten-Minute Profile Audit
Do this once, before the end of the year, and you will know exactly where you stand.
- Open your Trailblazer profile and list every certification shown.
- Mark each one against the three lists above: retiring, renamed or untouched.
- For renamed credentials, confirm the profile shows the new name. Salesforce says it updated automatically on July 24, 2026.
- For retiring credentials, note the date you earned each one. Salesforce says they remain valid through February 1, 2027.
- Check whether any employer, client or partner requirement names a retiring credential. If so, ask them how they will treat it after the retirement date.
- Pick one current certification that matches your next role, and look up its exam page on Salesforce before you budget for it.
How to word a retired credential on a resume
| Situation | Suggested wording |
| Held a retiring certification | List the credential with its earned date, and add “retired February 2027” once the date passes |
| Held a renamed certification | List the new name, with the old name in brackets |
| Studying for a retired exam | Do not list it. The exam window closed August 31, 2026 |
The wording is our suggestion for clarity, not a Salesforce requirement. The point is that a recruiter should be able to match your credential against either name.
What to Earn Next
Salesforce did not publish one-for-one replacements in the posts we read. Third-party writers suggest paths, and they do not agree on specifics. Salesforce Trail says Salesforce is consolidating into broader, role-based credentials, and suggests Platform Administrator or Platform App Builder when a retiring credential no longer fits. It also says Education Cloud has no successor and points to Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud). Salesforce Ben argues that cross-cloud, consulting and AI skills are better positioned than narrow product specialties, and points to data, integration and governance as growing areas.
| If you held or studied | A reasonable next step, as suggested by third parties |
| CPQ or Industries CPQ credentials | Look at the renamed Revenue Management Consultant credential. Confirm fit before booking |
| Education Cloud Consultant | Data 360 content, per Salesforce Trail |
| Marketing Cloud specialist credentials | Marketing Cloud Engagement Specialist (renamed). Salesforce Ben reports new marketing credentials are in development |
| Nonprofit Success Pack Consultant | The renamed Agentforce Nonprofit Consultant |
| Platform generalist | Platform Administrator or Platform App Builder |
| MuleSoft credentials | No successor named in what we read |
These are suggestions from outside Salesforce. Verify fit on Salesforce’s own certification pages before you spend money. For general Salesforce pathways, see our Salesforce Admin certification guide, the guide on becoming a certified Salesforce consultant, and the System Architect guide. If you are deciding between administration and development, our comparison of ADM-201 and Platform Developer I lays out the difference. The full Salesforce vendor page lists the exams we cover.
Who Should Care Most
| Reader | Why it matters | First move |
| Consultant holding a retiring credential | Client proposals and partner profiles may name it | Ask the partner or client team how retired credentials will be counted after February 1, 2027 |
| Admin or developer on the renamed list | Job ads now use the new titles | Update your profile headline and resume to the new name |
| Hiring manager | Candidates may show either name | Match on the skill area, not the exact title |
| Student choosing a first certification | The retiring exams can no longer be taken | Start from the 63 remaining certifications, as reported by Salesforce Trail |
Common Mistakes
- Treating “retired” as “revoked.” Salesforce says retiring certifications stay valid through February 1, 2027 and stay on Trailblazer profiles. Retirement is not revocation.
- Re-earning a renamed certification. A rename changes the title only. You do not need to retake anything.
- Planning around a post-2027 maintenance rule that does not exist yet. Salesforce has not published it in the posts we read. Do not assume either answer.
- Using the old name on a resume without the new one. Recruiters search by current product names. List both.
- Trusting a list without checking your profile. The full lists we show come from third-party coverage. Your Trailblazer profile is the authority on your own credential.
- Buying study material for a retiring exam. The sit window closed on August 31, 2026. New attempts are not possible.
What We Don’t Know Yet
- Maintenance after February 1, 2027. Salesforce’s posts say nothing. One third-party article says no renewal, another does not address it.
- Official one-for-one replacements. Not published in the posts we read.
- The full lists, from Salesforce directly. Salesforce’s posts refer to FAQs. We took the lists from Salesforce Trail and cross-checked the 24 count.
- How verification will label retired credentials. One write-up says profiles mark them as retired from February 1, 2027. We could not confirm this from Salesforce.
- Refund handling for anyone who registered and could not sit. The posts do not mention it.
- New credentials in development. Third parties mention Tableau Next and Marketing Next. Salesforce’s posts we read did not.
- Salary effects. We did not find a source that isolates pay for holders of these credentials, so we left salary figures out of this guide.
We will update this guide when Salesforce publishes more. If you have the retirements FAQ in hand, send us what it says on maintenance and we will check it.

Will I have to keep up maintenance after February 1, 2027?

How many certifications are being renamed?
