- Use it on your most expensive planned exam. A 50% voucher saves USD 50 on a Foundational exam, USD 75 on an Associate exam and USD 150 on a Professional exam. If you plan to take a Professional exam, that is where the voucher does the most good.
- Check the expiry before you do anything else. AWS states that voucher expiration dates cannot be extended, and you should check the date before changing a registration.
- Do not let a reschedule break it. If you move your exam, make sure the new date is still inside the voucher’s validity.
- Remember it is single-use. Vouchers are single-use through Pearson VUE unless the voucher says otherwise.

- Only the first failed attempt qualifies for the free retake, and the 14-day wait still applies.
- Non-transferable, cannot be resold and cannot be combined with other offers.
AI Upskilling campaign (Q2 to Q4 2026).
- AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) at 50% off, plus a free AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) exam if you pass the AIF-C01.
- The AIF-C01 had to be completed and passed by September 30, 2026. The CLF-C02 must be completed by November 30, 2026.

- If you see a code online for AIF-C01 with a free CLF-C02, it relates to the AI Upskilling campaign. AWS’s terms list the AIF-C01 deadline as September 30, 2026, which has passed. If a page still presents it as active, it has not been updated.
- Campaigns come and go. Before you rely on any offer, read the current terms on AWS’s voucher campaign page, check the purchase and completion dates, and confirm it works with your exam.
- “Cannot be combined with other offers” means you should not plan a stacking strategy around campaign vouchers. AWS’s terms say campaign offers may not be combined with other offers.
Team and Bulk Vouchers
AWS says organisations can buy exam vouchers in bulk and manage how they are distributed through a self-service portal. Team vouchers can also be bought through the voucher sellers AWS names, and AWS lists a Marketplace offer for training and certification vouchers sold through a partner, with pricing based on a private offer. No public bulk price or minimum quantity is listed on the pages I reviewed, so ask your employer or the seller for a quote.
If your company pays for certifications, ask whether it has an agreement. A team purchase can be cheaper than individual exams, and it removes the need to use a personal card.
Free Preparation Material from AWS
Not all savings are on the exam fee. AWS provides several free resources, and using them first can stop you paying for a retake.
Free, according to AWS’s preparation page:

Retake, Cancellation and Refund Rules That Affect Cost
Your biggest hidden cost is a failed or missed exam. AWS’s rules are specific.
- Failed exam: wait 14 calendar days before retaking. There is no limit on attempts, and you pay the full fee for each attempt unless a campaign says otherwise.
- Passed exam: you cannot retake that exam for two years.
- Reschedule: free up to 24 hours before the exam, and each appointment can be rescheduled twice. For a third change, cancel and book a new date.
- Cancel: cancel at least 24 hours before and you are refunded the fee paid at purchase.

The cheapest way to save money is not to fail. A failed Associate exam costs USD 150 and two weeks. A failed Professional exam costs USD 300. That is more than most discounts save.
Recertification and Discounts
Certifications are valid for three years, and AWS offers options to renew them.
- Renew for three years by passing the latest version of the same exam, passing a designated higher-level exam, or, for Cloud Practitioner, passing any Associate or Professional exam.
- Maintain for one year through AWS Skill Builder, which requires an active paid subscription.
- Higher-level exams recertify lower ones in some cases. For example, the Solutions Architect Professional recertifies the Solutions Architect Associate, and the DevOps Engineer Professional recertifies the Developer Associate and the SysOps Administrator Associate.
- Most recertification exams can be taken with the 50% voucher in your AWS Certification Account.
- Cloud Practitioner recertification via Cloud Quest. AWS’s recertification page lists the free Cloud Quest recertification game as an option, while the Cloud Practitioner exam page says the free game-based option ended with a beta in July 2025. Check AWS’s current page before you rely on it.
The practical point: recertifying by passing a higher-level exam can renew your lower certification at the same time, which is cheaper than paying for each separately.
