A. CSS: CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a language for describing the presentation of a document. JavaScript can manipulate CSS via the DOM, but CSS itself is not the API.

B. XML: XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a markup language for encoding data. It does not provide the interface for manipulating web page elements.

C. HTML: HTML (HyperText Markup Language) defines the structure of the web page. The DOM is the model and API that allows scripts to interact with this structure.
