Employment Insurance (EI) is a federal program funded by premiums paid by both employees and employers. The primary purpose of the EI program is to provide temporary income support to individuals who lose their jobs through no fault of their own (for example, due to a shortage of work) while they search for new employment or upgrade their skills. It also provides special benefits to workers who take time off work due to specific life events, such as illness, pregnancy, or caring for a newborn or critically ill family member.

A. Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributions fund retirement, disability, survivor, and death benefits for contributors and their families.

C. Workers' compensation premiums fund benefits for employees who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses.

D. Registered pension plan deductions are contributions to a private retirement savings plan, not a government social program for unemployment.
