Cloud Volumes ONTAP is packaged as an Amazon EC2 AMI.

AWS Outposts extends native EC2/EBS services into the customer’s datacenter, so the same AMI can be deployed on-prem while being managed from BlueXP in an AWS Region.

NetApp documentation explicitly lists “AWS Outposts” as a supported environment for Cloud Volumes ONTAP beginning with release 9.11.1, enabling customers to bring existing CVO-based workflows on-premises.

A. VMware Cloud hosts VMware VMs; Cloud Volumes ONTAP requires AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud constructs—not vSphere VMs.

C. Google Anthos manages Kubernetes/hybrid apps; it does not provide the EC2/Azure VM substrate required for Cloud Volumes ONTAP.

D. Azure Stack offers on-prem Azure services, but Microsoft Marketplace images for Cloud Volumes ONTAP are not supported there per NetApp support matrix.
