On Juniper switches using the port security feature set (secure-access-port), the default action for a MAC limiting violation is shutdown. When this action is triggered, the switch disables the interface, preventing it from sending or receiving any further traffic. As a direct consequence of the port being disabled, the offending packet and all subsequent packets arriving on that interface are dropped. By default, a system log message is also generated to record the violation.
