A Host Group in Dell EMC Unity is a management object that simplifies storage provisioning in environments with multiple hosts requiring access to the same block storage resources. By adding multiple hosts to a group and then granting that group access to LUNs, all hosts within the group inherit the same access permissions simultaneously. This is commonly used in clustered environments, such as VMware vSphere clusters, where multiple ESXi hosts need shared access to LUNs formatted as VMFS datastores.

A. Snapshots are a feature of a storage resource (like a LUN), not a host group. Host groups do not control snapshot operations.

B. Host Groups are used for block storage (LUNs via iSCSI/FC). Access to NFS filesystems is managed via host access lists on the share itself.
