PE -> device that removes and adds the MPLS labeling, P -> device that forwards traffic based on labels, CE -> device that is unaware of MPLS labeling, LSP -> path that the labeled packet takes. Pretty sure P forwarding vs PE label imposition trips people up.
Had something like this in a mock: device that forwards traffic based on labels = P, path that the labeled packet takes = LSP, device that is unaware of MPLS labeling = CE, device that removes and adds the MPLS labeling = PE. Confident this matches MPLS terminology but open to correction.
Nah, Nathan, think the trap is mixing up PE and P. Device that forwards traffic based on labels is P, PE does the label add/remove at the edge. LSP = labeled path, CE doesn't see labels.

CE → device that is unaware of MPLS labeling
LSP → path that the labeled packet takes
I think PE forwards based on labels and P does label imposition/disposition since edge devices usually handle routing, not pure switching. If anyone’s seen a different logic in the labs let me know.
