SnapMirror is NetApp's unified data replication technology. It supports asynchronous, block-level replication from a NetApp Element software cluster (the operating system for SolidFire and NetApp HCI) to a NetApp ONTAP system. This capability allows volumes on an Element cluster to be replicated to a destination volume on an ONTAP system, such as Cloud Volumes ONTAP. The replicated data is stored as a LUN within the destination ONTAP volume, enabling disaster recovery, data migration, and dev/test use cases between the two distinct NetApp platforms.

A. SyncMirror is a synchronous mirroring technology used for high availability within a single ONTAP cluster or a MetroCluster configuration, not for replication between Element and ONTAP.

C. Cloud Sync is a data synchronization service for moving and synchronizing file (NFS/SMB) and object (S3) data, not for block-level replication from Element software.

D. MetroCluster is a continuous availability and synchronous disaster recovery solution that operates exclusively between two ONTAP clusters, not from an Element source.
