After successful onboarding, the OCI Console is embedded within the GCP Console. This interface is

used to provision and manage Oracle databases on Exadata infrastructure. It offers familiar Oracle

workflows inside Google Cloud. Users can configure compute, storage, licensing, and backup options. It

ensures unified multicloud operations for Oracle workloads.

RAC enables multiple database instances to access the same storage. It provides high availability and

scale-out capabilities. RAC is commonly used for mission-critical workloads with uptime needs. It can be

enabled during provisioning for supported shapes. It enhances redundancy and load balancing across

nodes.

The subnet used for Oracle database must have enough IP addresses to allocate for Exadata nodes. Proper

routes must be configured to allow traffic from applications to the subnet. This ensures private, reliable

connectivity within the VPC. Public IPs and VPNs are not mandatory for internal access. Security groups

should also be configured.

Post-provisioning tasks include scaling compute, enabling Data Guard, and using snapshots for restore.

These options enhance performance, availability, and recovery. Backup region must remain in OCI

Object Storage. Snapshots allow for fast cloning and recovery. These features are accessible through the

OCI Console.

Active Data Guard lets users run read-only workloads on the standby database while it’s being updated

from the primary. This improves resource utilization and enables reporting without impacting the

primary.

The cost-center tag helps track spending and usage across teams or departments. It is often applied to

Oracle databases to attribute cloud costs. This supports reporting and budget management in multicloud

setups. Tags can be created and assigned during onboarding. They’re visible in the OCI Console for

governance.

The database runs on Exadata hardware physically deployed in Google Cloud data centers. This

eliminates cross-cloud latency and simplifies connectivity. It ensures data residency compliance with

local laws. The OCI control plane manages provisioning, but data stays within GCP. This design supports

hybrid and regulated environments.

Oracle Interconnect is only supported in specific OCI regions. You must have a DRG configured and a

virtual circuit established to connect OCI to Azure through the interconnect.

The database shape defines the number of OCPUs and memory allocated to the instance. It directly

impacts performance and scalability for the workload. Shapes are selected during the provisioning

workflow. They also determine how much infrastructure is reserved on Exadata. Choosing the right shape

is critical for optimization.

BGP automates the advertisement of routes and enables dynamic routing and failover. If one path fails,

traffic is redirected automatically without manual intervention. It is critical for resilience and uptime.
